What time of day is best to hike Robberg?

Start your hike right when the reserve opens at 7:00 AM.

The trails have no drinking water and very little shade. Avoiding the mid-day heat is important in summer. Arriving early also lets you skip the morning coastal fog and secures a spot in the main parking lot.

When is the best time to see the seals?

The Cape fur seals live at Robberg year-round.

A large breeding colony of thousands of seals occupies the eastern side of the peninsula. You can view them from the hiking trails or join a guided boat tour for a closer look from the water.
